- Winter Home Check Service
This free service helps vulnerable people on low incomes, and families with children and on low incomes, to get advice and support to keep their home warm. It includes: a full assessment of the client’s home and how best to keep it warm; small preventative works such as improving insulation and boiler repairs; installation of new boilers, central heating systems or home insulation (subject to additional eligibility and limited availability).
- coldAlert
The coldAlert service is for people across Sussex who would like to receive alerts when severe cold weather events are forecast.
- Home fire safety visits
East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service offers free home safety visits to people who are most at risk from fires in their homes.
- Energy saving advice
A selection of links to charities and organisations that offer different kinds of support and advice.
- Financial advice
Links to advisory charities and organisations who specialise in financial and debt advice, and can access many kinds of trusts and grants to assist households in a wide range of difficulties.
- Grants and loans
A wide range of links to information and online applications for a wide variety of grants and loans.
- Home Works
Home Works provides support to those aged 16 to 64 (a single person, a couple or a family), homeless or at risk of losing their home, and need support to live independently.
- STEPS to stay independent
STEPS provides a free short term support service to help people aged 65 or over who face housing difficulties and people aged 18 or over who have a long term physical health condition and need advice and guidance to help them live life to the full.
- Local councils
Each local district and borough council has housing officers available to offer advice and support to both homeowners and those in private rented accommodation.
- Water help
In East Sussex, Southern Water is our water supplier and they have a number of schemes to assist households with particular needs.
